SELF DISCOVERY THROUGH TORAH AND THEATER

In our search for ourselves and the meaning of our lives, we find all forms of psychological and spiritual exploration available. These are based upon many systems of analysis, behavior modification, spiritual teachings and meditations.

But somehow the most profound and ancient method of coming home to our true selves has not been explored sufficiently. The wisdom, humor, mystery, and joy available in Torah needs to be taken off the page and embodied in our daily lives. When this is done, it is thrilling to see how relevant Torah is to our lives today, how it holds many keys for that which we are searching.

In theater we have a different way of knowing, we actually enter experience directly and allow it to come alive right here, right now. Rather than trying to figure life out, we taste and embrace each moment directly. What better way to explore our lives than through the medium of Torah and theater combined. In this wonderful process we become able to understand and embrace the past in the present and discover that which is eternal and real.

As we put ourselves directly into the stories, teachings, and predicaments of our forefathers and foremothers, we can paradoxically discover that which is most pertinent and needed in our own lives today. As we filter their experience through our own, enormous freedom and insight becomes available. As they do this, many have the experience of finally coming home.

Self Discovery Through Torah And Theater is a fully interactive workshop, where participants are given different characters and scenes to play from Torah in front of an audience. All then discuss what they saw and experienced and how it relates to their own spirituality and issues they are dealing with today. This workshop is available half day or full day.
